Terms of use
Short version: this is a hobbyist tool, free to use. Don't abuse it, don't treat its advice as professional veterinary care, and accept that it may have mistakes.
What this is
Aquarium Architect is a free aquarium compatibility planning tool. It uses curated species data and a rule-based engine to flag potential issues with a hypothetical tank stocking. It is not a substitute for advice from a veterinarian, an experienced aquarist who can see your setup, or the dealer you're buying from.
Accuracy
The species data was pieced together from FishBase, SeriouslyFish, manufacturer specs, and long-running reefer consensus. Some of it will be wrong. Some of the rules will miss edge cases. Use the feedback page to flag corrections. The site is provided as-is, without warranty. If a stocking suggestion ends in dead fish or angry tankmates, that's on you to verify against multiple sources before spending money.
Acceptable use
- Don't scrape the species data programmatically. Hit the feedback page if you want a copy for legitimate use.
- Don't submit fake partner-store applications, fake feedback, or otherwise abuse the forms. Either gets your account closed without notice.
- Don't try to break in. Bug reports and responsibly disclosed security issues are welcome at the feedback page or directly to lr103724@gmail.com.
Accounts
Accounts are free. The site uses them for cloud-syncing your tanks between devices and for routing partner-store applications. I can suspend or remove an account that violates the acceptable-use section above.
Liability
This is a hobby project, not a business. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site is provided without warranty and the maintainer isn't liable for any loss (financial, livestock, emotional, or otherwise) resulting from acting on what the engine says. Always cross-reference important purchases.
Changes
These terms may change. Meaningful changes get reflected here with an updated date below. If you keep using the site after a change, you're accepting it.
